WHERE IT STARTED
A Passion for Ethical Craft
Hi, my name is Kat and welcome to a place where creativity meets sustainability, and where everyday objects are given a new lease of life.
Like many people, my journey began during the uncertainty of the Covid lockdown in 2020, when I was furloughed from my teaching role. With time suddenly on my hands, I turned to the things I’ve always loved - painting, crafting, upcycling, and creating. What started as a way to fill long summer days quickly became something much more meaningful.
I began transforming discarded and unwanted items into beautiful, unique pieces, sharing my creations online under the name Champagne Lifestyle On A Lemonade Budget. What began as a small creative outlet soon grew into a thriving venture, connecting me with people who valued creativity, sustainability, and the joy of handmade design.
As life returned to normal, I was fortunate to continue this journey alongside my teaching career, working part-time while taking on bespoke commissions, breathing new life into furniture and treasured pieces for clients who wanted something truly special. My crafting skills enabled me to branch out as well. I made everything from decorative wreaths at Christmas and pumpkin flower arrangements as Halloween gifts, to bottle decoupage for gifts and decorative pieces for the home. Running alongside this, I took on flower arrangement commissions for weddings/events as well. So crafting became a huge part of me quite simply!
Today, I’m excited to take this passion even further by offering hands on craft workshops and events. After collaborating with build-to-rent communities across Birmingham, I now bring people together to create, learn, and be inspired.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple philosophy: reduce, recycle, reuse. My workshops are designed to be relaxed, welcoming, accessible to everyone, and above all.... fun! That's irrespective of whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned maker. Together, we’ll explore how to turn the overlooked into something beautiful, all while embracing creativity in a more sustainable way.
